How the Revo-Rack was loaded
Matthew of Iowa city purchased a revo-rack for his Miata ND in March 2018 for use on a camping trip. He wrote a blog about the trip and his experience of the revo-rack for Maita. His full review is here
To sum up his thoughts his words are
My first Miata sparked a kind of carnal hunger for the open road, and for the last few years I have looked forward to a time when I would have the freedom to travel the United States with the top down . At the same time, I have been told by nearly everyone in my life that “you can’t fit enough stuff in that,” or that “you can’t go camping in that,” or “That’s a girl’s car.” While the last bit may be true I was still Irked. It was time to prove them all wrong.
I got 7 days off work in the middle of March for our little mini-adventure. Next on the to-do list was deciding where to go. Where would be warm, camp-friendly, scenic, and within a couple days of relaxed driving from Iowa City, Iowa?
We thought about Colorado, but didn’t love the idea of running superslab the entire way there. So we looked due south to the Ozark Mountains. Our destination was a small campground situated at the half-way point along Arkansas state highway 23, otherwise known as The Pig Trail. The Ozarks are known as a driving/motorcycling wonderland, and The Pig Trail is one of the more famous roads in the area.
When the trip finally rolled around, my Lady-friend and I packed up enough clothes for 6 days, two sleeping bags, a tent, and a full size air mattress. This amounted to a medium sized duffel bag, a large backpack, and one massive waterproof storage bag filled to the max. Combine that with sheets, shoes, pillows, and snacks and you might be wondering how we fit all of that into my Mazda Miata…
A month prior to our trip I scoured the internet for luggage solutions. I happened upon a company called “revo-rack,” based in the UK that makes a unique removable luggage rack that won’t scuff up the paint on nicer vehicles. The pictures showed it on everything from ND Miatas to exotics. I ordered one up and within a week it was at my doorstep. Assembly of the rack was easy and the whole thing weighs barely 5-10 pounds at most. The luggage rack uses vacuum suction mounts to seal the rack to a car’s trunk. It held our 40 lb bag of camping supplies with no problem.
