Mazda MX5 Luggage Rack :
Revo-Rack Black from $625 AUD
Revo-Rack PA from $739 AUD
Revo-Rack is a unique design of Mazda MX5 Luggage Rack that eliminates the risk of paint damage, caused by steel clamps or straps on the boot/trunk lid edges. It fits every MX5/Miata made including the RF & Roadster coupe, the roof can be operated on both with the rack in place. We have been manufacturing the Revo-Rack since 2016
With the Revo-Rack no metal touches your MX5's boot lid or comes within 5cm of it. We utilise soft rubber vacuum cups these use the pressure of the atmosphere to secure the rack to your Mazda's boot or trunk they are not suction cups. We have been manufacturing the Revo-Rack since late 2015 and offer two finishes powder coated black or hand polished and anodised. Both racks are made from the same T5 aluminium and magnesium 25mm tube, following Mazda's ethos of a light two seater convertible ; Why put a heavy 6kg stainless rack on your boot/trunk ?
Revo-Rack has been independently safety tested by TUV Italy. Along with braking and speed tests to a loaded rack they applied a 645N force. A lifting force of around 65kg/145lbs for 10 minutes to a Revo-Rack with a 25kg load on it the rack stayed secure and did not bend or deform. If attached properly Revo-Rack is as secure if not more secure than a traditional clamp rack. See the full test criteria here. It's certified to ISO 11154 the international standard for car roof bars and is the only luggage rack in the world certified to this level.

The Rack Frame :
This Mazda MX5 luggage rack is manufactured from 25mm/ 1" 6063-T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy ( it will never rust ) As a result the rack frame weighs only 1.672kg / 3.6lb The cross bars are machine welded in place to ensure consistency. Revo-Rack measures 900x420mm / 36"x17"
The Supports :
The rack is secured to your MX5's boot/trunk using three 120mm/5" vacuum cups, rated by the manufacturer as capable of holding an 18kg/40lb load each. Let's be clear these are not suction cups they are totally different. Suction creates vacuum.
Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force. Unlike suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface, Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching surface thus creating a much more reliable hold. Because the full face of the pad is brought into contact with the car distortion is reduced, allowing the cup to be used with very little risk of damage. Revo-Rack spreads the weight of the rack and cargo over 300cm2, unlike traditional racks that place the weight and pressure over a much much smaller area increasing the risk of damage.
The Revo-Racks vacuum cup's pump feature a plunger with a red line, which serves as a vacuum indicator. Introduced in the1960's, this safety device is still recognized as one of the most reliable warning systems available. A few strokes of the grey plunger evacuate the vacuum pad, causing it to seal securely to the attaching surface. When the cup is attached completely, the plunger stops moving and the red line is hidden within the pump. A visible red line indicates if air has leaked back into the pad, making vacuum insufficient to use the cup. If the red line becomes visible while the cup is in use, a check valve allows the user to re pump the cup without losing the remaining vacuum.
Lifting on the release tab near the edge of the pad allows air to refill the evacuated space, so that the vacuum cup detaches completely. The racks sits 7.5cm / 3" off the boot/trunk lid
Revo-rack for my MX5 - Awesome
Bought a Revo-Rack for first ever camping trip around Scotland with our Mx5. Really happy with how it performed, it was superb. Performed exactly as advertised and shown on the YouTube videos I watched before buying it. Rack took a 100L Berghaus expedition bag really well - strapped on using 6 Rugtol adjustable bungees. I used anti-theft cables anchored to the boot lid hinges lets say for "peace of mind" but the vacuum cups are really awesome, they never faltered.
Can't recommend highly enough.

Hello Antony,
The Revo-Rack arrived on time and we used it across Italy and France for 3 weeks - a total of over 4,500 km. It was super quick to set up and take down - it always held up. Just a super good part.

We have just completed our second long road trip with the Revo-Rack on the MX-5. This time we did 3,800km, mostly at high freeway speeds, but also plenty of curvy roads, and the rack held fast in all the wind blast and lots of lateral forces. Top up or top down, there was never a worry with the rack and luggage.
We couldn’t be happier with our purchase.

Huge shoutout to the people across the pond at Revo-Rack. They didn’t pay me or anything to endorse them, but the rack is honestly the best possible solution for adding storage capacity to the world’s favorite roadster. It left no marks and I am sure it would work well on other vehicles too. At around $300 the rack seemed expensive at first, but it worked flawlessly and even kept all that camping gear rock steady into triple digit speeds at one point. Plus it’s something that I’ll continue to use in the future.

Dear Anthony,
We are back in Holland after a trip of nearly 5000 KMS through France and Spain....You can see how we packed.
As you can see I used straps for extra safety. The rack was doing very well only one time I had to pump one cup extra.
