Mazda MX5 Luggage Rack :
Revo-Rack Black From C$559.95
Revo-Rack PA From C$659.95
(Based on £1 = C$1.7)
Revo-Rack is a unique design of Mazda MX5 Luggage Rack that eliminates the risk of paint damage, caused by steel clamps or straps on the trunk lid edges. It fits every MX5/Miata made including the RF & PRHT NC, the roof can be operated on both with the rack in place. We developed the Revo-Rack for the ND fourth generation MX5 in 2015 and it went into production in 2016
Revo-Rack attaches to your MX5 using vacuum cup technology, these are not suction cups. Suction is what creates vacuum. Vacuum is the total absence of air whereas suction is the process done to achieve a vacuum. The grey buttons on the side of the cups pump out the air creating a huge, securing force.
We have been manufacturing the Revo-Rack since late 2015 and offer two finishes powder coated black or hand polished and anodised. Both racks are made from the same T5 aluminium and magnesium 1" tube, following Mazda's ethos of a light two seater convertible ; Why put a heavy 15lbs stainless rack on your trunk ?
Revo-Rack has been independently safety tested by TUV Italy. Along with braking and speed tests to a loaded rack they applied a 645N force. A lifting force of around 145lbs for 10 minutes to a Revo-Rack with a 45lbs load on it the rack stayed secure and did not bend or deform. If attached properly Revo-Rack is as secure if not more secure than a traditional clamp rack. See the full test criteria here. It's certified to ISO 11154 the international standard for car roof bars and is the only luggage rack in the world certified to this level. We have sold over 10,000 since 2016 and never had a failure.

The Rack Frame :
This Mazda MX5 luggage rack is manufactured from 1" 6063-T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy ( it will never rust ) As a result the rack frame weighs only 1.672kg / 3.6lb The cross bars are machine welded in place to ensure consistency. Revo-Rack measures 90x42cm / 36"x17"
Vacuum Cups:
Revo-Rack is secured to your MX5/Miata using three 5" vacuum cups. These are rated by the manufacturer as capable of holding an 18kg/40lb load each. These are not suction cups.
Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: These are not suction cups. Suction is what creates vacuum. Vacuum is the total absence of air whereas suction is the process done to achieve a vacuum. The grey buttons on the side of the cups pump the air out from the cup creating a huge securing force. When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force. Unlike suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface, Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching surface thus creating a much more secure hold.
The Revo-Racks vacuum cup's pump feature a pump button with a red line, which serves as a vacuum indicator. Introduced in the1960's, this safety device is still recognized as one of the most reliable warning systems available. A few strokes of the pump evacuate the vacuum pad, causing it to seal securely to the car. When the cup is attached completely, the plunger stops moving and the red line is hidden within the pump. A visible red line indicates if air has leaked back into the pad, making vacuum insufficient to use the cup. However, if the red line becomes visible while the cup is in use, a check valve allows you to re pump the cup without losing the remaining vacuum.
Lifting on the release tab near the edge of the pad allows air to refill the evacuated space, so that the vacuum cup detaches completely. Revo-Rack sits 7.5cm / 3" off the trunk lid
Hi Liza,
We went on wonderful road trip to Austin, Texas and the surrounding Hill Country, in the beginning I was bit scared/anxious that the rack would come off or damage the trunk, all was good, here a pic;

We have just completed our second long road trip with the Revo-Rack on the MX-5. This time we did 3,800km, mostly at high freeway speeds, but also plenty of curvy roads, and the rack held fast in all the wind blast and lots of lateral forces. Top up or top down, there was never a worry with the rack and luggage.
We couldn’t be happier with our purchase.

Huge shoutout to the people across the pond at Revo-Rack. They didn’t pay me or anything to endorse them, but the rack is honestly the best possible solution for adding storage capacity to the world’s favorite roadster. It left no marks and I am sure it would work well on other vehicles too. At around $300 the rack seemed expensive at first, but it worked flawlessly and even kept all that camping gear rock steady into triple digit speeds at one point. Plus it’s something that I’ll continue to use in the future.

Dear Anthony,
We are back in Holland after a trip of nearly 5000 KMS through France and Spain....You can see how we packed.
As you can see I used straps for extra safety. The rack was doing very well only one time I had to pump one cup extra.
