Mazda MX5 RF Luggage Rack
Revo-Rack Black C$589.95
Revo-Rack Polished anodised C$739.95
Revo-Rack is a unique design of Mazda MX5 RF Luggage Rack that eliminates the risk of paint damage, caused by steel clamps or straps on the fragile trunk lid edges. Revo-Rack can be fitted in under a minute.
We have been manufacturing the Revo-Rack since 2016 with the choice of two finishes black or PA (polished anodised) which creates a chrome like shine. We only sell direct over the web.
We designed Revo-Rack in 2015. The issue with fitting a conventional metal clamp based luggage rack to a modern convertible is the small panel gap - there is no room for a metal clamp.
Revo-Rack attaches to your RF using vacuum cup technology, these are not suction cups. Suction is what creates vacuum. Vacuum is the total absence of air whereas suction is the process done to achieve a vacuum. The grey buttons on the side of the cups pump out the air creating a huge, securing force.
In 2015 Revo-Rack was independently certified by TUV Italy part of the global TUV testing and certification business. It went through speed, braking and force tests, to ISO 11154:2006 Revo-Rack passed all these tests and is certified to carry 20kg/45lbs. Since 2016 we have sold over 10,000 Revo-Racks and never had a failure.
Please see what our customers think of the Revo-Rack
We are of course aware that Mazda suggests a maximum load of 22lbs for their carbon fibre rack on the MK4/ND because of the cars aluminium boot/trunk lid. Like a conventional rack, this clamps on with weight spread over the very small area of 20cm².The footprint of the clamps on the edge of the boot/trunk lid.
With a Revo-Rack the load is spread over a much greater area over 300cm² The footprint of the vacuum cups.Hence the Revo-Rack can carry a greater load of 20kg/45lbs with no risk of damage to the boot/trunk lid. Think of this like standing or a frozen lake or skimming across it on your belly. One will cause thin ice to crack the other won’t

The Rack Frame :
This MX5 RF luggage rack is manufactured from 1" 6063-T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy ( it will never rust ) As a result the rack frame weighs only 3.6lb perfect for the RF s aluminium boot/trunk lid. The cross bars are machine welded in place to ensure consistency, the rack is powder coated black. The rack measures 36"x17"
If you have a North American MX5 RF with the shark antenna fin on the trunk lid, you will have to mount the rack as shown this allows roof operation and the rack does not foul the antenna. If your RF has a rear lip spoiler we make a model with an additional hole drilled allowing one vacuum cup to be mounted further back, please make sure you order this model if your RF has the the small spoiler.
The Supports :
The rack is secured to your MX5/Miata's RF's trunk lid using three 120mm / 5" vacuum cups, rated by the manufacturer as capable of holding an 18kg/40lb load each.
Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force. Unlike suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface, Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching surface thus creating a much more reliable hold. Because the full face of the pad is brought into contact with the surface, distortion is reduced, allowing the cup to be used with very little risk of damage.
The Revo-Racks vacuum cup's pump feature a plunger with a red line, which serves as a vacuum indicator. Introduced in the1960's, this safety device is still recognized as one of the most reliable warning systems available. A few strokes of the plunger evacuate the vacuum pad, causing it to seal securely to the attaching surface. When the cup is attached completely, the plunger stops moving and the red line is hidden within the pump. A visible red line indicates if air has leaked back into the pad, making vacuum insufficient to use the cup. However, if the red line becomes visible while the cup is in use, a check valve allows the user to re pump the cup without losing the remaining vacuum.
Lifting on the release tab near the edge of the pad allows air to refill the evacuated space, so that the vacuum cup detaches completely. The racks sits 3" off the trunk lid

Just picked up your email. I will look at disassembling this evening and get back to you with results. It appears you have already shipped a replacement part out. Thank you. I knew you guys were straight up and an honorable company. It's obvious from both the product and your response to me. Thanks.
By the way. I have some excellent pics of the rack on the car. It looks so good on the car I sometimes just attach it without my dry pack. It truly makes this beautiful little car a bit more sexy.
I will followup with a few pics.
Make it a great day!

We have just completed our second long road trip with the Revo-Rack on the MX-5. This time we did 3,800km, mostly at high freeway speeds, but also plenty of curvy roads, and the rack held fast in all the wind blast and lots of lateral forces. Top up or top down, there was never a worry with the rack and luggage.
We couldn’t be happier with our purchase.

Huge shoutout to the people across the pond at Revo-Rack. They didn’t pay me or anything to endorse them, but the rack is honestly the best possible solution for adding storage capacity to the world’s favorite roadster. It left no marks and I am sure it would work well on other vehicles too. At around $300 the rack seemed expensive at first, but it worked flawlessly and even kept all that camping gear rock steady into triple digit speeds at one point. Plus it’s something that I’ll continue to use in the future.
