Revo-Rack is a unique design of convertible luggage rack that eliminates the risk of paint damage, caused by steel clamps or straps on the fragile boot/trunk lid edges.

We have been manufacturing the Revo-Rack since 2016 with the choice of two finishes black or PA (polished anodised) which creates a chrome like shine. We only sell direct over the web.

We designed Revo-Rack in 2015. The issue with fitting a conventional metal clamp based luggage rack to a modern convertible trunk lid is the small panel gap - there is no room for a metal clamp.

Revo-Rack attaches to your car using vacuum cup technology, these are not suction cups. Suction is what creates vacuum. Vacuum is the total absence of air whereas suction is the process done to achieve a vacuum. The grey buttons on the side of the cups pump out the air creating a huge, securing force.

In 2015 Revo-Rack was independently certified by TUV Italy part of the global TUV testing and certification business. It went through speed, braking and force tests, to ISO 11154:2006 Revo-Rack passed all these tests and is certified to carry 20kg/45lbs. Since 2016 we have sold over 10,000 Revo-Racks and never had a failure.

Revo Rack is part of the boot-bag group, all we do and have done since 2008 is look for innovative ways to increase the luggage capacity of your convertible coupe or sedan. Since 2008 we have been manufacturing the innovative boot-bag.

In early 2016 we decided to look at making our own traditional luggage rack. The criteria was simple :

1. Lightweight ( for composite and aluminium trunk lids )
2. Modern design for modern convertibles ( Z4,SLK,MX5,Boxster )
3. Won't in any circumstance damage paintwork
4. Simple and Innovative

The thing thats always put us off conventional luggage racks is the high risk and in the case of some designs certainty of paint damage, caused by clamping or strapping the rack to your car. Many modern convertibles also have very small panel gaps in the region of 1/8" : that does allow room for a conventional trunk edge clamp. Metal always ends up chipping or scratching your deck lids edge or worse the surface, no matter how careful you are.

We decided to look for another solution. Whilst watching a Chris Harris video on you tube we wondered how he held the Camera to a Mclaren P1, the rest as they say is history.

 

The Revo-Rack is not designed for permanent fitting, its designed to be used for a days driving/travel then removed from the car. Remove it, re moisten the vacuum cups with water and refit on multi day trips. ( It takes 1 minute )

The Rack Frame :

This luggage rack is manufactured from 1" 6063-T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy ( it will never rust )  As a result the rack frame weighs only 3.6lb perfect for todays aluminium and composite trunk lids. The cross bars are machine welded in place to ensure consistency, the rack is powder coated black or polished and anodised. The rack measures  36"x17"

The Supports :

The rack is secured to your cars boot/trunk lid using three 5" vacuum cups,  rated by the manufacturer as capable of holding an 48lb load each.

Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force. Unlike suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface, Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching surface thus creating a much more reliable hold. Because the full face of the pad is brought into contact with the surface, distortion is reduced, allowing the cup to be used with very little risk of damage.

The Revo-Racks vacuum cup's pump feature a plunger with a red line, which serves as a vacuum indicator. A few strokes of the plunger evacuate the vacuum pad, causing it to seal securely to the trunk. When the cup is attached completely, the plunger stops moving and the red line is hidden within the pump. A visible red line indicates if air has leaked back into the pad, making vacuum insufficient to use the cup. However, if the red line becomes visible while the cup is in use, a check valve allows the user to re pump the cup without losing the remaining vacuum.

Lifting on the release tab near the edge of the pad allows air to refill the evacuated space, so that the vacuum cup detaches completely. The racks sits  3" off the trunk lid
